Delia Covezzi

Delia Covezzi has cultivated a solid reputation as one of the best womenswear and accessories designers since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2006. Following valuable apprenticeships at Stella McCartney and TataNnaka, Delia went on to design and produce bespoke collections for a range of top boutiques in Europe and the middle east. After the success of this venture, she launched her own line in 2009 with immediate demand resulting from a loyal following and word-of-mouth.

"Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else."

Judy garland

Delia mixes strong tailoring with feminine silhouettes, taking inspiration from the likes of Helmut Newton’s Amazonian beauties and powerful historical female figures such as Joan of Arc and Cleopatra.

"Her own philosophy to fashion can be summed up by a quote by Yves Saint Laurent: " Fashions fade, style is eternal."

Delia wants women to feel both empowered and beautiful and what better way to do that than with clothes that are timelessly stylish but have a little added spunk? With sartorial nods to Greek goddesses, Egyptian pharoah queens and Amazons it seems that Delia has the right idea when it comes to muses.

Both sides need each other. experimental fashion is incredibly import- ant. it pushes the boundaries of what we consider fashion, both tech- nically and visually. the commercial fashion feeds off and learns from this. it is a trickle-down effect. it is like this in all creative sectors; car design, interior design, art, music.

    A time machine... who wouldnot?

___ which three adJectives describe your collection and fashion philosophy?

    Feminine, sophisticated and confident.

___ what factors do you feel particularly affect young fashion designers today?

Mass production, globalism and the recession; the retail industry is becoming increasingly generic, influential and brand-led. ___which designer from the past do you think exerted the most influence on fashion today? yves saint laurent. apart from introducing masculine tailoring for women, he was the first in 1966 to popularize ready-to-wear in an attempt to democratize fashion. he was also the first designer to use black models on the catwalk.

___ what is your overall approach to design?

    Less is more.
