ArtEZ provides training for more than 3,000 students in the fine arts, fashion, design, architecture, music, dance and drama in Arnhem, Enschede and Zwolle.

Students often work together on projects and research, learning to combine the perspectives of various disciplines. This allows for new insights and possibilities.

Art of creating

The art of creating holds an important place in our programmes. By creating a product or performance themselves, students experience the interaction between creating and performing, between theory and practice.

Early in their education, students come into contact with consumers, users, clients and audiences, giving them a realistic impression of professional practice.

Sense of self

Students who choose ArtEZ will need to let go of many of their certainties and search for their own motivations. A sense of self and a good dose of perseverance are essential. ArtEZ supports students in this, while simultaneously pushing them to meet the professional and artistic demands needed to achieve professional success.

In-depth theoretical training through the Honours Programme

Bachelor’s students who need an additional intellectual challenge may be eligible for participation in the Honours Programme. During this supplementary two-year study programme, students attend additional lectures on topics such as the theory and history of contemporary art, philosophy, aesthetics, sociology and cultural studies.

They also carry out research, learn how to present this research and formulate their own research projects.

International

About 20% of our students come from other countries and ArtEZ works with many international universities and research institutes. Students have opportunities to participate in exchanges with universities abroad.

ArtEZ has various notable buildings, each with its own character and story. Students in each of the three cities have access to excellent facilities.
